Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I hope everyone relaxed and recharged. August 13, 2018 will be our first day back and I am looking forward to seeing you.

All signs are pointing in a positive direction.  Our devoted staff is already preparing for your children.  The custodial crew is working diligently to ensure your children have a safe, clean school environment.  The nutrition staff is preparing a menu for the year that will fuel your child’s body and mind.  Lastly, our hard working Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and plan exciting events and programs.

Each year brings about positive change. This year, we will have a few additions to our staff.  Mrs. Kaylie Nakamura will join the Emerson team as a 4th grade teacher and Mrs. Sheri Bernart will be teaching our Kindergarten Special Day Class. We are so proud to have them as members of the Emerson community.

In addition to our new staff members, this school year teachers will be using our newly District adopted Eureka curriculum as the tool during math instruction.  We are excited and enthusiastic about this new adoption.  If you have questions about the strategies being taught please be sure to contact your child’s teacher.

Increased student attendance and the reduction of school tardiness continues to be a focus at Emerson.  When students are at school on time, ready to learn they are better prepared for the school day. Help us meet our goal of decreasing overall chronic absenteeism by having your child at school on time every day!

As are all RUSD schools, Emerson Elementary is a closed campus.  However, on August 13th and 14th parents are invited to enter the campus and walk their children to class. All visitors are expected to exit the campus as soon as the tardy bell rings at 8:35 am. Emerson will realign with the Districts closed campus policy on August 15th.

Lastly, please plan to join me on August 15th from 8:00 am – 8:30 am for Coffee with the Principal.  I would love to have the opportunity meet you.

It is my greatest pleasure to serve as your principal. Together, we can make this school year one of growth for ALL students.
